Kensington Prairie Farm is excited to offer educational tours to our visitors on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, weekly at 11:30 am and every second Sunday at 11:30 am. Tours will last approximately 30 minutes, completing at 12:00 pm (noon) and will cover a broad spectrum of alpaca information and facts, including (but not limited to):
The origin of Alpacas and Camelids
Alpaca temperament and behaviour
An introduction and chance to feed some of Kensington Prairie Farm alpacas
The shearing process 'from fibre to fashion' and the 6 point grading system
Breeding and cria (baby alpacas) facts
Tours must be booked in advance and operate in a first-come, first-served manner. Each tour has only 10 spots available, so make sure to book your spot while its free!
Weekday tours cost $10/person and Weekend tours cost $15/person. Proceeds from tours are donated to a children's charity in Peru, called Quechua Benefit. For more information on the charity, visit www.quechuabenefit.org.
